It was great to meet with representatives from the different innovation initatives across the Higher-Ed sector here at Swinburne University; Design Factory, Factory of the Future and Innovation Precint and to share each of our visions.
There are definitely linkages between the above three initiatives in terms of the user groups and the problems which they will aim to address and work together with industry. They offer students valuable opportunities to be part of the real world.
The Digital Aquarium, though not external facing, aims ultimately to provide students with an opportunity to be part of an innovative learning environment which will not only prom greater engagement but will prepare them for a digital future.
The idea of innovation seems to be everywhere and loosely used. What does it mean to Swinburne? I think it means leadership, setting an example of taking risks even though we don't know what the outcome will be. It's also about people and how we can maximise the ideas, skills and experiences.
